Today I'm grateful
for denim trends.

According to all the 10 pound fashion magazines, the newest trend this spring is denim. Jeans must be faded with whiskering, holes, metallic paint, tie-dye, and bleach splotches -- while dark jeans are simply out, out, out. These hard and fast fashion rules leave a girl wondering, what do I wear with faded denim? Should the fit be loose or snug? And the most important question of all -- if stonewashed jeans are really back, can bad perms, leg warmers and hair scrunchies be far behind? Okay, I admit I have one remaining scrunchie. (I only use it when I wash my face) and it hasn’t seen the outside world since Saved By the Bell was cancelled.

I’ve been burned by a few fashion tends in the past, particularly when the latest must-haves can only be worn by supermodels who’ve been on a year-long cleansing fast. So I did some investigating into this denim trend, and discovered the hottest look flying off the shelves this season and onto the bottoms of American women: the Pajama Jean. These denim beauties are described as "the pajamas to live in, and the jeans to sleep in." Hmmm. Maybe the tag line should be “Pajama Jeans, what to wear -- because momma’s thirty cats aren't going to run out to Wallmart and get kitty litter all by themselves.”

I’m grateful for denim trends because I can choose which look is right for me. The Pajama Jean only comes in dark wash, so I’m forced to make a choice. I may opt for the faded denim look, or, I may go for the Pajama Jean -- which is ironic since the only time my jeans have been comfortable enough to sleep in, is after I’ve been drinking, and only after I’ve been drinking would I even consider wearing Pajama Jeans.

That’s why I’m grateful for denim trends.

Forget about rainbows and unicorns, I’m grateful for double martinis, single men and pretty much anything covered in chocolate or cheese. This gratitude journal is anonymous because the stuff that tends to fall out of my head and land on the page makes HR departments cringe -- and guys lose my number.
